White Sugar Means
White sugar is commonly known as granulated sugar, table sugar or regular sugar was first thought of human to produce a sweet item. While sugar is generally used in most of the parts of world then brown sugar, jaggery or other types of sweeten.
It is produced from cane sugar or beet sugar. It is a real sucrose which has to pass through the refine process.
Basically, it is light brown in colour at the time of processing but later further processing made it white sugar by removing molasses from beet juice or cane juice.
Though majority of people are aware about health risks white sugar like cancer, weight gain, heart ailment and blood sugar but taste and whiteness of it attracts us to use it to produce various sweet dishes i.e. chocolates, cakes sweets etc.
The maximum use of 6 teaspoon for adult women and 9 tablespoon for adult man is considered suitable but intake more than this limit attracts many health issues like blood sugar, weight gain and others especially for diabetic.
If you want to make your food sweet, brown sugar is far better than white sugar. The main nutrients found in Brown sugar are calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron.
What Does Brown Sugar Mean?
When molasses are mixed in sugar it becomes brown sugar giving dark colour to it. With a sucrose sugar, brown sugar is brown in colour because of the presence of molasses. This sugar is either unrefined or partly refined consists of sweetness with some parts of molasses which makes this sugar healthier than white sugar.
This is a kind of raw sugar which was later clayed and therefore called clayed suger and used for domestic purpose but it's use was gradually decline. Brown sugar is produced in a solid form and basically contains sucrose, a disaccharide produced in uniform part of two monosaccharides that is glucose and fructose.
The calories in brown sugar are same as in white sugar. The existence of molasses between them differ from each other. The refine process of white sugar eliminate all the molasses from it and make it white whereas brown sugar is refined to the extent and in such a way that some part of molasses remains in it.
There are many types of sweetness available in market but useful of white sugar, brown sugar and jaggery is very common. Now to answer are white sugar and brown sugar the same? We are giving blow some important difference between them.

- The molasses from white sugar are removed so it becomes white and is very useful for our body which invited so many diseases like weight gain, blood sugar, heart diseases etc. whereas due to existence of molasses it has various nutrients which are very beneficial for our body.
- The main difference between brown sugar and white sugar are the existence of molasses. All the molasses in white sugar are removed due to refine technique whereas brown sugar is refined in such a way that some part of molasses remains in it which makes it brown, moisture and tasty.
- Generally we think that brown sugar has less calories then white sugar but the tablespoon calories in brown sugar and white sugar are same.
- Though there are various nutrients in brown sugar due to presence of molasses but they are not supposed to have more health benefits than other sugar.
- The molasses which makes it brown sugar are derived from sugarcane and not from sugar beets whereas there in no molasses in white sugar or are in a negligible quantity but deep refine process makes it white. The white sugar is made from sugarcane and sugar beets.
Conclusion
There are huge difference between white sugar and brown sugar. This difference comes from the existence of molasses. The molasses are removed from white sugar and it's deep refined process makes it white. On the other side, brown sugar contains some part of molasses and so it gain brown colour.
Though both brown sugar and white sugar have same calories in one tablespoon so there is no difference between them about existence of calories. Because molasses are removed from white sugar it is very harmful for our health and brown sugar has various nutrients so it is very useful for our body. Therefore we should consume brown sugar and avoid white sugar.
